Adega do Garajau

One of our favourite seafront casas is the idyllic Adega do Garajau.

Situated on the north coast of Pico, Adega do Garajau overlooks the old harbour in the secluded village of Prainha. It’s one bedroom and nicely-compact, with a traditional feel to the décor, a well-equipped kitchen and BBQ. What makes your stay is the terrace – overlooking the lava-stone bay and out across the Atlantic Ocean; ideal for big Azorean sunsets.

It’s easy to explore the island by car from Prainha but if you’d like to avoid driving, we can include a couple of tours with our resident guide. It’s a ten-minute walk from the casa to one of our favourite swimming spots on Pico – Prainha’s Piscina Naturias – the natural seawater swimming pools at the western-end of the village. Overlooking the pools is the the Adega Acoriana Tapas and Wine House which serves some of the best Azorean cuisine on the island, and the nearby Katekero Mercado supermarket will keep you well-stocked with groceries.
