If you’re aiming to immerse yourself in Azorean culture, a stay in the capital Ponta Delgada is a must. We often say this modern city feels more like a friendly town, and it’s wonderful assortment of restaurants, cafebars, shops, and marinas make it an ideal family destination.

With it’s sociable one-storey layout, Casa das Cicas is one of our most versatile homes in the city and it’s five bedrooms can comfortably accommodate a family of up to eight. Outside, the building’s stylised façade and glazed-blue brickwork give the casa a distinctive art deco look, which continues as you move from the private garden into the spacious living room/diner. Horizontal glazing frames the garden beautifully, and the sharp, geometric tiled floors are softened by the curves of the classical-Azorean furniture. The well equipped kitchen is very much of the modern day, and the bedrooms have a homely feel with their warm cedar floors.

Head out of the garden gate, and the tree lined Avenida Gaspar Frutuoso leads you quickly into the heart of the city. The Portas do Mar marina, the Jose do Canto gardens, the Mercado da Graca and the Gruta do Carvao caves – all of Ponta Delgada’s landmarks are a short walk away.
