Casa do Tanque

Casa do Tanque is a rural two-bedroom family casa on the south coast of Sao Miguel.

This spacious one-storey casa embraces open-plan living wholeheartedly. There’s almost a barn-conversion feel to the high vaulted ceilings and exposed cedar beams, and the top-to-bottom windows help draw the summer sunshine into all corners of the casa.

The roomy living space is all-in-one – lounge, dining room, games room and kitchen. Only the cosy twin bedrooms (x2) and bathrooms (x2) are separated from the main living space. Outside, there’s a south facing sun terrace and BBQ, perfect for al-fresco dining in the evenings with Sao Miguel’s famously sweeping ocean sunsets as a backdrop.

Tanque shares it’s gardens with Casa da Palha, a second two-bedroom casa, ideal if you’re planning a multi-generational holiday with grandparents, parents, kids and friends all staying in the same, peaceful rural location. We’ll usually recommend including a hire car – to allow you to shop for supplies in the nearby town of Lagoa, and to explore the remarkable volcanic landscapes of this beautiful island.
