Ocean Breeze

Ocean Breeze is a rustic, new-build B&B on the rugged north coast of Pico.

Located in the old fishing hamlet of Cais do Mourato, Ocean Breeze has a modern, hostel feel with six bedrooms – four double rooms and two triple rooms: ideal for couples and families who prefer a simple, unpretentious place to unwind.

The sea is just twenty paces from your doorstep – this is Pico’s northern coastline: jagged and craggy, where the ancient molten lava flows which formed the island met the cool of the Atlantic Ocean head-on.

It’s a short walk to the HQ of the Azores Wine Company – their daily tours and tasting session will teach you all you need to know about Pico’s UNESCO-protected vineyards. We also recommend including a hire car as part of your holiday, allowing you to visit the Gruta das Torres caves, Lajes do Pico (the original home of Azorean whale watching), and the Montanha do Pico at your leisure.

Cais do Mourato is a close-knit community and you’ll spend your evenings rubbing shoulders with the locals at the nearby Bar Mourato, or over dinner at the Stones Pico Bistro.
