Pico Terramar & Spa

The Pico Terramar & Spa is an all-new, 4-star hotel in the Areia Larga district of Madalena.

As the latest addition to Madalena’s range of seafront hotels, the Pico Terramar & Spa has a thoroughly contemporary-feel. There’s a laid-back, Scandi-vibe both inside and out – with just enough modern Azorean architectural touches to help blend the hotel with its maritime surroundings.

The Scandinavian aesthetic continues inside, with naturally-finished wood panelling, and cozy textiles creating a warm and relaxing atmosphere. Rooms are divided into Deluxe or Superior, with views over the outdoor pool or up towards Pico’s cloud-tipped volcanic mountain (respectively). There’s a heated indoor pool, a spa, and an on-site restaurant – it’s also a short walk into the centre of Madalena, where you’ll find many of Pico’s best, family-run restaurants, (including the Restaurante O’Ancoradouro, which is just next door).

For keen walkers, the Pico Terramar & Spa is perfectly located for the start/finish of the Vinhas da Criacao Velha – one of the Pico’s most-popular walking trails, which takes you through the island’s UNESCO-protected vineyards to the old fishing village of Porto do Calhau.
