The Quinta da Abelheira estate is the epitome of rural tourism, divided across three distinct buildings:

The Quinta – this original manor house is a wonderfully preserved example of classic Azorean architecture. There are five bedrooms in total – two of which share a private interconnecting bathroom, ideal for families. The bedrooms are on the first floor, with a guest lounge, honest bar and breakfast room below.

Casa do Pico – has the same classic style from the outside, but with a more-modern contemporary interior. There are five bedrooms once again – two deluxe (our favourites), one superior and two standard rooms. There’s also a cosy guest lounge once again and breakfast room. Casa do Pico also opens onto a lovely raised terrace complete with sun loungers.

Casa do Jardim – is home to the estate’s garden suites.

Outside, there are eight hectares of tranquil gardens within the Quinta da Abelheira estate, with an outdoor pool: perfect for a refreshing dip at the end of day’s exploration. We recommend including a hire car during your stay but it’s not crucial – you’ll always have the option of exploring Sao Miguel with our residents guides, and the renown restaurants of Ponta Delgada are just a short taxi ride away.
